Incompetent Customer Service/don't buy here | Bobs Discount Furniture in Boston, Massachusetts

Bought a kitchen set that came with a lazy susan. Over next several days saw random ball bearings on kitchen floor. Lifted up lazy susan and the spinning mechanism was cracked and the ball bearings gushed all over the floor. I scooped them and took it to the store, only to be told I would have to go home and call customer service to get it replaced. Called they sent someone out to look at it a week later, who agreed it was a manufacturing defect and needed to be replaced. Here is where it gets annoying: spent 2 hours on phone with customer service being put on hold again and again with the upshot being: 1. swap out entire table set but they are not selling this one anymore, 2. get a 15% credit with warranty or a 30% credit without..but it is a Bob's Store gift card, not an actual rebate, or 3. I could contact the manufacturer myself and ask for the part because Bob's says they cannot order the part. I call the manufacturer and they say Bob's CAN and HAS TO contact them for the part because they are a wholesaler not a retailer. I call back to Bob's Customer Service and spend another hour getting someone to follow up with the parts dept and the manufacturer - they say I will hear back in 2-3 days. 10 days later I call again and spend an hour to end up in the same position - they have to check with their parts dept because they put through the part order (at least they did that much) but as a charge to me instead of under warranty. Now I am waiting to see if someone contacts me by tomorrow with the resolution and a delivery date. Horrible run around.Incompetent.

Around thanksgiving, my future mother-in-law purchased a 3-piece dining room set to celebrate our upcoming marriage. Everything seemed great up until the day before the first delivery. Here are the timeline of events as follows: "¢ 1st problem I had to call about: The auto dial never called and told me when my delivery was arriving "¢ 2nd problem: I called to find out when my delivery was the night before delivery. They told me it was at 6:45am! I am glad I called because I would have thought someone had died being woken up that early. "¢ 3rd problem I had to call about: the person who took my order wrote down the wrong address I asked them to fix it. At this time, I asked her to make sure the delivery driver call me when he arrives because my doorbell was acting up "¢ 4th problem: the delivery driver did not call and luckily I heard the truck outside and woke up to help him in "¢ 5th problem: delivery driver told me that the person who loaded the truck forgot 1 chair and I had to call to reschedule a second delivery "¢ 6th problem: he asked to use my cell phone because he didn't have one "¢ 7th problem: After the driver told me my table was set up and working properly, I come to find out that the hinge was jammed and it did not fold. My fiancé couldn't even fix it, either the delivery driver didn't care or he doesn't know how to assemble "¢ 8th problem: I had to wait 20 minutes again on hold for customer service and they tried to schedule my furniture delivery in two separate shipments, I asked them to combine it to one because I don't have time to wait around for an additional 8 hours (4 hour span for each delivery) I work. They scheduled it for December 9th and told me everything would be fine. On Tuesday, the 6th the autodialer calls me to tell me my shipment would arrive on Wednesday. "¢ Wrote a note to "My Bobs" customer complaints and was told I would get a response within 1 business day and that was a week ago and never heard anything "¢ After receiving the call I asked the customer service person to make sure it was scheduled for Friday. She said it was and the autodialer made a mistake "¢ My future mother-in-law called to get reimbursed for shipping and she was denied "¢ On the 9th of December my furniture was set to arrive. After being reassured that my order would be on time because I had a dinner party this past Saturday and got rid of my existing furniture to accommodate my new furniture I get a message that says my chair broke and they aren't delivering it and they are delivering my order in two separate shipments one scheduled for today for the new table and one scheduled for next Friday a week from today Well, to my surprise, all my furniture arrived finally! All 3 pieces, 2 chairs and table. After badgering them we finally got them to *** the delivery charge so I was happy with that, but I shouldn't have had to ask. They should have offered us something when the 1st issue arrived. Not to mention the annoying time I spent listening to *** bob on the recordings. "I HATE WAITING!" OIY bob got annoying, I can't even watch the commercials now. It peevs me.

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. Explain the issue and tell them you want a refund for defective merchandise.

Bob's may turn around and give you a refund to avoid this problem.

If not, the credit card company will chase after them. Also, report them to the BBB.

I paid for an entire house of furiture 5/1/11. The sales rep said the delivery would be on 5/5/11. And possibly another delivery for a few items that were not in stock on 5/12/11. The first delivery was a nightmare. No couches, no beds, less then a fraction of what I was promised would be there. The ony thing they brought was a dining room table. And it was damaged and missing one chair. So I call and go into the Bellingham store. I was promised my couches and the beds along with a few other items would be delivered on 5/17/11. I took another day off from work, they show up with only the chair they forgot from the last delivery. They suck, I have called, went into the store, they promise me it is in and will be delivered. I just called to confirm my stuff would be delivered 6/15/11 like the promised and was told it may be in sometime in JULY!! These people are lying cheating dirtbags. They took my money full well knowing they did not have the items I was buying. The lie to me everytime I call. I will never shop there again and would advise anyone who would like to pay for and actually receive their furniture to stay far away from these ***

I bought a kitchen dining set for $800 on May 10th 2008. It arrived May 13, 2008. My daughter received a gash on her knee from an open ended staple under the table the next morning at breakfast. When we looked under the table, we found 31 such staples, yes 31!! We took them all out and called Bob's. We were on hold for customer service for 45 minutes the first time and have been on hold for close to 197 minutes since and have yet to speak to a human being. Since then we've found holes under the chairs with wood chips waiting to come off. I was on the phone again this morning, on hold for customer service for 35 minutes, no humans. No one has returned our "customer service" complaint emails. We have no recourse but to go and make a stink in the store, which I plan to do. I can't believe a company as bad as this is still around? Who are they paying off? Is anyone else interested in generating a class action suit against them?

Imported (Asian or South American) has staples under the tops because of the straps used for packing.

BEFORE YOU BUY FURNITURE - ASK WHERE IT'S MADE! Buy American. You won't have to worry about staples, lead paint, etc.

Yeah, it costs more but let's make an investment in our own jobs and maybe prevent a few injuries too!

I have a similar issue chair fell apart while sitting it, and amlost killed my daughter. swivell chairs.

also glass from hutch just fell and almost cut my 1 yr old.
